Why I Stopped Using Trello and Moved Everything to Notion
Trello was great for simple lists, but I needed a system that could grow with my freelance business. Here's why Notion won.
I was a loyal Trello user for years. Boards were easy, and the drag-and-drop felt intuitive. But as my freelance practice grew, Trello's limitations became painful: no relational databases, no custom views beyond kanban, and no way to link projects to clients or invoices. I was juggling multiple tools just to keep track.
Notion changed that. With databases, I can link a project to a client, a task to a milestone, and an invoice to a payment status — all in one workspace. I built a dashboard that shows me my active projects, overdue tasks, and upcoming deadlines on a single page. The learning curve was real, but once I got the hang of it, I couldn't go back.
Now I have one system that handles project management, client records, finances, and even my content calendar. If you're outgrowing your current tool, consider making the switch. Just don't try to rebuild everything at once — start with one workflow and expand.
