How I Set Up My Weekly Review in Notion (and Why You Should Too)

A step-by-step guide to building a weekly review routine that keeps your freelance business on track without the overwhelm.

When I first went freelance, I treated every week like a clean slate. I'd dive into Monday with a vague idea of what needed to happen, and by Friday I'd be scrambling to finish things I forgot. The weekly review changed that.

Here's the simple system I use inside my Notion dashboard. Every Friday at 4 PM, I block 30 minutes. I open my Weekly Review template—which is just a page with a few linked databases—and run through five items: celebrate wins, review finances, check project status, plan next week's top three priorities, and clear my inbox.

The magic is in the automation. I set up rollups so my income tracker automatically shows how I did against my goal. My project database shows which tasks are overdue. I don't have to think; I just read the numbers and make decisions.

If you try nothing else, start with the top-three priorities. Pick three things you absolutely must finish next week. Write them down. Everything else is bonus. That one change cut my stress in half.
