Why I built a finance tracker for creatives and the three principles that guided its design.
I've never met a freelancer who enjoys bookkeeping. But I've met plenty who stress about money because they don't have a clear picture of their finances. That's why I built the Freelance Finance Tracker — not because I love spreadsheets, but because I wanted to stop worrying about cash flow.
Three principles guided the design. First, simplicity: no categories you don't need, no complex formulas. Just income, expenses, invoices, and a tax estimate. Second, visibility: a dashboard that shows your monthly profit, outstanding invoices, and tax set-aside at a glance. Third, speed: entering a transaction takes under 10 seconds.
